Local Collection: Filed in Dewey order. There is some fiction in this collection but mainly historical material on Invercargill, Southland, Fiordland, Otago and the Sub-Antarctic Islands. This is a closed collection - please ask staff for items from this collection.

Reference: Filed in Dewey order. This is the largest collection and is on open shelves.

REF - CDR

Reference CD-Roms: Available for use on CD-Rom computer. A wide range of topics are available to be viewed.

REF - Manual

Manuals for cars, bikes, tractors, lawnmowers, small engines, trucks, vans, washing machines, jetskis, boat inboard/outboard motors. Filed in Dewey order with all makes under their manufacturers name i.e. Honda, Toyota.

REF - Microfiche

Microfiche: Filed alphabetically or by year. They cover Birth, Death, Marriage, Cemetery records, Electoral rolls, Directories and others that can be found by checking the library catalogue or asking staff.

REF - Microfilm

Microfilm of The Southland Times, The Southland Daily News , Otago Daily Times and the Southland Provincial Papers. There are some extra films that can be accessed through the library catalogue system or by asking staff.

REF- Stack

Includes older editions of general reference items. These items are not in demand as often as they used to be but are still a valuable resource. Please ask staff for items from this collection

REF -VF

Vertical File: These are filed by Subject, Biography and Southland titles. They contain photocopied material of newspaper and magazine articles.

RES

Research: Filed in Dewey order. This is mainly early NZ material some of which has been donated by Anthony Rowlands. There are some very rare items in this collection This is a closed collection - please ask staff for items from this collection.

St Andrews: Filed in Dewey order. This is a collection of early Scottish material donated by the St Andrews Society. This is a closed collection - please ask staff for items from this collection.
