About Invercargill City Libraries

Invercargill City Libraries includes a main branch in the central business district of Invercargill and a small branch library at Bluff. There is also an Archive that houses community and council archival records. This is directly accessible from the first floor of the City Library.

We have a membership of some 36,000, who borrow 750,000 items a year, as well as making use of other library services and programmes. Membership is free to all permanent residents of Invercargill, and if you are a member of another library in Otago or Southland, you can use our reciprocal membership agreement to borrow from Invercargill City Libraries too.

A multi storey car parking building (ParkZone) is directly linked to the Library and Archive facility. This is operated by the Invercargill City Council and you can find details of charges on the Invercargill City Council website. There is a bus stop directly in front of the Library building on Dee Street, and you can find details about bus routes on the Invercargill City Council website, also.
