How do I place a hold on an item?
My Account can be found on the menu of the Library’s online catalogue, eLibrary.

In My Account you can:
In Review My Account you can look at what material you have out, what material you have a hold on and if you owe any money. If you have any problems regarding the information detailed in your account please contact the Library.
Account Summary gives you an overview of your account. It shows you if you owe any money, the number of items you have out and if you have any holds.
In Checkouts you can see the title and author of each item you currently have out. It will also show when they are due and whether any money is owed on them due to overdue charges.
In Holds you can view the items you currently have on hold. You can also cancel a hold by ticking the box next to the item's title and selecting Cancel Selected Holds.
In Bills you can view the cause of any money you may owe on your account. You can see the title and author of the item, the reason for the bill and when the bill was added or charged to you account.

There are two ways you can log on to gain access to your account online. Both ways can be found on the Online Catalogue, eLibrary.

Place your Library Card Number 200XXXXX (which can be found on the back of your library card) in the field marked User ID.
In the PIN field place the password that you chose when you signed up to the Library. If you have forgotten or are unsure you have a PIN, please contact the Library and we can update your PIN.
Select Display User Information to log on to my account and view your account.
Select Reset Query Values to reset the fields and start again.

If you get an Access Control Failure message after logging in please make use you have put the correct information. If you are still having problems logging in please contact the Library and we can help you find out what the problem is.
You can also log on using the log in form at the top right of the library’s online catalogue.

Place your Library Card Number 200XXXXX (which can be found on the back of your library card) in the field marked User ID.
In the PIN field place the password that you chose when you signed up to the Library. If you have forgotten or are unsure if you have a PIN please contact the Library and we can update your PIN.
Select Login to the e-Library OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalogue) to log on.

If you get the Missing User or Alternative ID message after logging in please make use you have put the correct information. If you are having problems with logging in please contact the Library on (03) 211 1444 or send us a message and we can help you find out what the problem is.
To place a hold on an item online you will need to search for the item on the online catalogue. If you would prefer to place a hold over the phone or are having problems with placing a hold online, please contact the Library on (03) 211 1444 or send us a message.
Please note that a hold fee will be incurred for each hold placed; this is payable on pickup. For more information visit our fees and charges page.
If you are still in the search results select Place Hold on the left side of the items information.

If you are in the items record you wish to place on hold you will find the Place Hold link on the right hand side.
You will then be asked to give your User ID and your PIN.
Place your Library Card Number 200XXXXX (which can be found on the back of your library card) in the field marked User ID.

You will also be asked to tell us which library you want to pick the item up from.
Choose Invercargill Library if you want to pick it up from the Invercargill branch
Choose Bluff library if you want to pick it up from the Bluff branch.
Please do not choose Invercargill Storage or Invercargill Archives as these are staff only areas, and not pickup locations.
You do not need to change the Expiration date.
Select Place Hold to place a hold or Reset Query Values to clear all fields to start again.
In Renew My Materials you can renew your items online. All of your currently checked out items are displayed, showing each item's title, author, and due date. Simply tick the box(es) beside the item(s) you wish to renew and select Renew Selected Items.
If you cannot renew an item it may be because you have already renewed the item once, or it is on hold for someone else, or your account may be currently Blocked (perhaps due to overdue fees in excess of our maximum debt limit). In Change My Address you can change any of your contact details. Please fill in your new contact details within the appropriate fields. You will need to give your User ID or your Alternative ID to ensure the correct record is updated.

In User PIN Change you can change your PIN online. To change your PIN you will need to provide your User ID number, your current PIN, and your new PIN. Your new PIN will be asked for twice to ensure we have the correct PIN.
