Betty White
I found the short chapters slightly disruptive and made it easy to lose focus. The book itself is simply an overview of Betty White’s life. It’s clear from the book that Betty White is an author of few words; her chapters are more like summaries than actual chapters. However she does manage to share some briefly interesting stories.
The book does have depth, White talks candidly about her career, marriage, and disbelief at her own success. I quite liked how she spoke honestly of her opinions regarding the red carpet and other responsibilities of being a celeb. Her simple humour can be found within every page and that is what kept me reading. I found her memories and feelings regarding her husband Allen to be rather romantic, it’s obvious that she is still very much in love with her husband, speaking of how she knows that he still loves her; “I think Allen is getting a kick out of it, because he’s never very far from me. Ever.”
I would most definitely suggest this book to a friend, particularly if they were a Betty White fan. Even if not, there’s as much wisdom as there is humour. Certainly enough to keep someone interested enough to finish. A true story written in proper Betty White fashion.
